Professional Affiliations
Dr. Marcie R. Moran, Director of Behavioral Health Services at Avera
McKennan Hospital and University Health Center in Sioux Falls, SD.
Received her Doctorate Degree in Educational Psychology and Counseling
and a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of South
Dakota in Vermilion, SD. She is an RN and works predominately in the
field of mental health administration and also works as a consultant,
teacher and psychotherapist. She has spent her entire career in the
field of mental health and was instrumental in developing and
implementing a comprehensive behavioral health services at Avera
McKennan Hospital. Was previously the Director of Mental Health Services
at Mercy Medical Services in Sioux City, IA.
Is a current member of the Iowa Psychological Association, the American
Nurses Association, a consultant for Crisis Management International, a
member of the South Dakota Organization of Nurse Executives. President
of the Board of the Sioux Empire Critical Incident Stress Management
Program.
NARMH Positions and Projects
Dr. Moran was elected to the NARMH Board in 1999 and serves on the
committees of Legislative and Membership.
Rural Mental Health Involvement and Contributions
Director of Rural Mental Health Programming for Avera Health.
Coordinates the Heartland Hotline and Assessment Services for South
Dakota. Has implemented several rural mental health programs, and
implemented the “Strengthening Family Relationships” pilot project for
Avera Health and SD Easter Seals in the state of South Dakota. Has
implemented outreach programs, support groups and suicide prevention
networks throughout the state for meeting the mental health needs of
rural residents and is a strong advocate in the arena of providing
direction and teaching to others to develop their own networks of
service.
