BACKGROUND:
We are inviting you to participate in a healthfinder.gov Stakeholder Webinar on Wednesday, September 26 from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. or Thursday, September 27 from 3 p.m. - 4 p.m. (agenda attached). The purpose of this Webinar is to hear your ideas on how we can shape the future direction of the National Health Information Center as well as the health communication and e-health priorities for the Nation. Your organization has been invited because your Web site and reliable consumer resources are featured on healthfinder.gov and are part of the National Health Information Center database.
healthfinder.gov is the consumer face of the National Health Information Center and is coordinated by the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. ODPHP also coordinates Healthy People 2010, a comprehensive set of disease prevention and health promotion objectives for the Nation. Healthy People 2010 includes the Health Communication Focus Area, which contains six objectives designed to achieve the goal, "Use communication strategically to improve health."
As we are nearing the end of the decade, the U.S. Department of Health and
Human Services is in the initial stages of planning for the next set of
national disease prevention and health promotion objectives-Healthy People
2020. During this meeting we will discuss Healthy People 2020 and the role
you can play in providing input to the health communication and e-health
priorities for the next decade.
In preparation for the meeting, we ask that you consider the following
questions:
1. How does health communication/informatics significantly contribute
to the improvement of health and the reduction of health disparities?
2. How could we measure progress regarding their contributions?
